Abstract

With the advancement of internet communication technologies and applications, the presentation formats of online culture have continuously evolved. In recent years, a new cultural phenomenon has emerged: individuals reinterpret existing films by deconstructing and reimagining their content, supplementing it with narrative explanations or critical analyses to create 5–10-minute videos that are widely shared across platforms, forming a distinct category of "film commentary" short videos. These videos capture the core narrative structure while incorporating creators' subjective evaluations of plot development, character characterization, and cinematographic composition, featuring dynamic pacing and innovative editing techniques that have made them highly popular among short-video audiences and a significant component of digital content. However, these videos also face challenges such as copyright infringement, homogenization, and vulgarization. Undoubtedly, they enjoy broad appeal and substantial research value. To ensure the sustainable development of film commentary short videos, this paper proposes several optimization strategies addressing current issues and limitations.
